Name: Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern Festival and Flag-raising Ceremony

Event Name: Dancing Dragon to celebrate the Chinese New Year

Date: February 3, 2024

Objective: Let children know that the New Year is a traditional Chinese festival. Let children learn about Chinese New Year activities and traditional Chinese games. K3 children volunteered to build a culture of collaboration and self-confidence.

Contents: Parents were invited to celebrate the Lunar New Year with their children in traditional Chinese costumes, and children were encouraged to wear traditional Chinese costumes (Chinese costumes) to participate in different Chinese cultural element booth games. At the same time, the children made sachets together, used Chinese printing technology to make Fai Chun, and invited the children to post the Fai Chun at home to bring blessings to the new year. There is also an ancient Chinese game, which originated from the Tang Dynasty “Bu Playing Ball”, and in the Song Dynasty, it became a daily social sport called “Hammer Pill” to enjoy the joyful atmosphere of the festival and feel the cultural atmosphere of the traditional New Year.

Contents:During the Chinese Culture Week, our school allows children to explore and appreciate different traditional Chinese customs and art activities step by step, and build a sense of belonging to the country. From the learning activities, the children selected one of the items as the performance project of the Chinese Culture and Arts Day, and the children performed with their hearts. Through appreciating the performance, children can learn to abide by the rules, learn to respect and care for others, and build a good foundation for Chinese culture.

Contents:Our school held a multicultural and Easter celebration with booths and snacks from different cultures, including Chinese pot throwing, Filipino bamboo dance, Thailand Boxing, Japan fencing, cherry blossom painting, stacking Russia dolls, India painting, Korea costume photo shoot, etc., so that children can enjoy operating gadgets from different countries with their classmates and tasting food from different countries at food stalls. Parents and children participated in the activities to cultivate parent-child relationships, broaden their understanding of Chinese and Western cultures, and give children an opportunity to thank their parents and inherit traditional Chinese filial piety through family massages.

Contents:Through a visit to the Chinese Medicine Garden in the centre, children learn about ancient Chinese and commonly used plants. The children put on their teachers’ uniforms and tried to find out the Chinese herbal medicines, and used the Chinese tool “Weighing Stones” to measure and make sachets. To enable children to explore and experience the work of learning Chinese medicine, as well as to understand Chinese herbal plants and traditional Chinese culture.

Parent-child lantern riddle guessing and Mid-Autumn Festival lantern party activities

Our school will hold festival activities for children according to different festivals to feel the festive atmosphere and joy. Through interesting stories and games, children can learn about the origin of the festival, festive foods, customs and celebrations, etc. For example, during the Mid-Autumn Festival activities, they can experience the fun of jacquard lanterns in the dark, share festive food together, and experience the joy of Mid-Autumn reunion.

On-campus New Year’s Eve and New Year activities

China’s traditional festivals have a long history, especially the Chinese Lunar New Year, which has more colorful customs. Our kindergarten will held different activities of different levels according to children’s abilities, so that children can gradually deepen their understanding of the Lunar New Year. Chinese cultural activity week

Chinese history and culture have a long history, are extensive and profound. In order to cultivate children’s appreciation of traditional Chinese culture, enhance their understanding of Chinese culture, and increase their interest in learning Chinese. Our school holds a Chinese cultural activity week during Chinese Lunar New Year. Children learn about Chinese culture through personal experiences with different Chinese cultural activities, art, food, etc., such as dance, martial arts, painting, technology and other activities. In this way, children can not only understand Chinese history, but also experience the fun of Chinese culture and be willing to learn.
